RAJPUR

Rajpur is a rural municipality in western Nepal. It has an area about the size of Singapore and is mostly hilly. However, more than half of its 30,000 people live in the plains of the Rapti river. It is ethnically diverse with five main ethnic groups, including indigenous people, having an almost equal population. More than half of adult females are illiterate. Almost half of the population is not connected to a road and does not have grid electricity.
More than half of the child-births take place at homes without safety or support. Children continue to die from diarrhea as only half of the households have access to clean drinking water.

KARMA HEALTH & RAJPUR RURAL MUNICIPALITY PARTNERSHIP

Karma Health and Rajpur Rural Municipality first entered into a partnership in 2017 October to deploy a doctor in the government health center. Since then the partnership has expanded in scope to cover health center upgrading, outreach services, population studies, pandemic response, and joint recruitment and deployment of community health workers, installation of a laboratory. The government has steadily increased its financial contribution to the partnership as well.
