Position Details:

Karma Health is working in partnership with Rajpur Rural Municipality in western Nepal to prototype a model of dependable, low-cost healthcare for Nepal’s municipalities. Karma Health and ASHA-Japan are working jointly to implement comprehensive healthcare programs in Rajpur. We are currently looking for a committed, and humble individual to contribute to the design and lead the implementation of a novel model of primary healthcare for rural Nepal.


Location: Rajpur Rural Municipality, Deukhuri, Dang, Lumbini Province, Nepal

  • Directly report to: Designated leaders, Karma Health & ASHA

  • Directly supervise: 10 Community Health Workers, Digital Health Associate

  • Mutual responsibilities: Medical officer, Administrative lead


Key Responsibilities

1. Lead implementation of comprehensive health programs of the Rajpur Model

  • Lead community-driven implementation of safe motherhood, non-communicable disease and first-aid projects in Rajpur

  • Supervise and train community health workers

  • Provide assistance to implement the integrated digital health system

2. Monitor, coordinate and report project’s progress

  • Analyze progress, identify roadblocks and risks, and build mitigation strategies for smooth program implementation.

  • Update progress of projects through project management tools and scheduled meetings to Karma Health and ASHA.

  • Coordinate and build a good relationship with the rural municipality, and provide technical support in planning and implementing health programs as required. 

3. Advance community-based research and evaluation

  • Implement project related research activities 

  • Support in conducting project evaluation as and when necessary including assessing beneficiary’s satisfaction and adoption of project activities by community members. 


Requirements:

  • At least Bachelor’s degree in public health or equivalent education/experience (necessary), clinical background (preferable)

  • Strong passion to improve healthcare in rural Nepal (necessary)

  • Determined project- and time-management amid changing/demanding situations (necessary)

  • Unwavering belief in engagement with the community (local government officials, residents) (necessary)

  • Fluent in English and Nepali language (necessary), Tharu and Awadhi languages (preferable)

  • Candidates with geographic or cultural proximity to the region, or local experience (preferable)

  • Familiarity with data analysis, digital health technology, formal/semi-formal writing (preferable)
